Every morning is new time. It doesn't matter how the day before ended: the dawn collects no debts. That's why the early prayer seems to me the most honest gesture I know: not asking, but giving thanks that there's another chance to do things well.
The "Dawns" series
Steadily, on no fixed schedule: an image and a brief prayer. No sermon, no noise. Just the light and a few words. It began on a balcony that was ours for many months: always the same view, over the same forest, and the only thing that changes is the light. The series is written in Spanish, where it belongs.
"Seeing up close" isn't only a way of looking at a mechanism. It's also a way of praying: with attention, unhurried, grateful for the small things.
